Garlic Bread
Ingredients
- 250 g all-purpose flour
- 150 ml lukewarm water
- 10 g fresh yeast
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp sugar
- 2 heads garlic
- olive oil
- 1 sprig rosemary
- 1 pinch salt
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter
- 4 tbsp grated Parmesan
- 3 tbsp fresh parsley
- ½ tsp brown sugar
- salt and black pepper
- 3 tbsp grated Parmesan
- 100 g mozzarella
- hot honey
Steps
- Combine the lukewarm water, sugar, and yeast in a small bowl.
- Let the mixture sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- Add the flour, salt, and olive oil.
- Knead into a smooth dough.
- Cover the dough.
- Let rise for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Place the peeled garlic cloves in a small saucepan.
- Cover the garlic with olive oil.
- Add the rosemary and a pinch of salt.
- Cook over very low heat for 25–30 minutes until the garlic is soft and lightly golden.
- Drain the garlic.
- Reserve the garlic oil for cooking, if you like.
- Mash the garlic together with the softened butter, Parmesan, parsley, brown sugar, salt, and black pepper until creamy.
- Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F).
- Stretch the dough into an oval or rectangle.
- Spread the garlic butter over the dough, leaving a small border.
- Sprinkle the extra Parmesan over the dough.
- Top with the shredded mozzarella.
- Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the crust is lightly golden and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Drizzle generously with hot honey.
- Add chili flakes if desired.
- Slice the garlic bread.
- Enjoy while warm.
